For the Merlin Tarot Project over on livejournal. Where the cards of the Major Arcana are being created with fanart for the BBC's Merlin.

This is my card, XVII - The Star featuring Excalibur and the Lady of the Lake, after a fashion.

The Star is supposedly the most beautiful card in the deck so, no pressure. ^_^

This is supposed to fit either the straight reading of the Star card or the reverse reading, hence why the text goes both ways.

In the straight reading the Star card means hope and new beginnings. Therefore the 'Take Me Up' referring to Arthur taking Excalbur from the water when he is a young King.

In reverse the Star card represents hopelessness - hence the 'Cast Me Away' for Arthur's death. In the picture itself I tried to make it ambiguous whether the sword was leaving the water or returning to it.
